Tai Chi
It’s much more than moving our bodies slowly
Tai Chi is about becoming consciously aware of the contents of our minds, and gradually learning how to manage our wavering emotions, perceptions and reactions. And joy, deep down, is at the center of it all. Once reached, this deep layer of joy illuminates our physical bodies, our energy and physiology, our thoughts and behavior.
We begin by letting our attention go deep within to experience the state of joy and peace. We tune in to our breath, becoming aware of our restrictive thought patterns and conditioned responses, and allow ourselves to gradually let go. We step out of our own mental drama and observe it without judgment.
Once that space is created we stop defining ourselves through our thoughts or emotions. As the clouds of emotions and thoughts part, they reveal the sun that was there all along. We have tapped into joy.
Tai chi needs no equipment and can be done in a very small space.
